Purpose & Passion

Welcome to my blog!

As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. – Marianne Williamson

Here we will be exploring topics such as purpose, self-care, mindset, spirituality and much more to live a happy and fulfilled life. Join me on the journey!

My Journey

I want to introduce myself and let you know a little bit about me and what I love. I’m Nathalia Mahecha, originally from Colombia, and I’ve called New York home since 2004. Married to an Ecuadorian, we have a son, a dog and a cat!

This is us… and no, my cat and my dog are not friends. They tolerate each other but they love to scare each other more!!!

A Passion for Teaching

The first thing to know about me is that I love teaching. I vividly remember that when I was little, maybe 7 or 8, I used to love pretending to be a teacher, with my stuffed animals as the students 😂. I even gave them tests! There was something so satisfying about putting an ❎ or a ✅ on a paper.

Also I love to learn! I’m always learning something, taking workshops or reading books that feed my mind and soul.  Someone said, if you are not growing, you’re dying. Obviously I prefer to keep growing. I like to take one or two (or more 😬) immersive workshops a year.

When you embrace a mindset of continuous learning, you open yourself up to new opportunities, challenges, and experiences. Whether you’re acquiring new skills, exploring different subjects, or seeking personal development, learning allows you to expand.

Adventure Heart

One way to learn that is also very fun is to travel, and that brings me to my second passion.

Traveling. It allows you to step out of your comfort zone, gain new perspectives, and expand your horizons.  I really enjoy visiting famous places, see beautiful landscapes, trying different foods, and learning about different cultures.

Overall, traveling is not just about visiting new places—it’s about personal growth, cultural enrichment, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Embracing Personal Development

The third thing is that I love is personal development. In my early 20s, I joined an organization where every summer we would go to the south of Chile. There, we participated in all kinds of training, including leadership, coaching, fire walking, and sweat lodges. I also completed two vision quests, where you are “planted” in a secluded space in the mountains and stay there for four days without water or food. These were all amazing and very enriching experiences.

With them, I learned two things that marked and defined my life in different ways. The first was belly dancing, through which I learned to connect with my feminine side and flow with the rhythm of life. The second was Aura-Soma, a system of color, crystals, and light that supports you in becoming the best version of yourself.

Life’s Unexpected Turns

But then life happened. I moved to the United States, got married, started a family business, had a child, and completely forgot about my dreams and passions. I dedicated myself so much to my son that I lost myself!

Rediscovering Myself

Until one day, after talking with my son’s second-grade teacher, I started thinking: Who am I when I’m not being a mom? I didn’t have an answer. That was scary but that was also my wake-up call! So, I returned to personal development, participating in many workshops and I went back to my old hobbies and passions and little by little I started to reconnect with myself.

Sharing My Learnings

During one of those classes, I received a very clear message: you need to teach again! What is the point of learning so much if you are going to keep it to yourself? Share all that you are learning with the world. This message inspired me to create two things: a nonprofit and a coaching program.

And this ties perfectly with my other passion: helping people! I genuinely love making a difference in others’ lives. Serving others and creating a positive impact fills my heart with joy. It’s truly fulfilling to know that I’m making a difference, even if it’s just in a small way.

The first time I volunteer I was in college and I was hooked for life. I am always looking for opportunities to give back.

First, I established Your Life at 10, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing more happiness to the world. I developed a program called Happiness For All, aimed at teaching underprivileged communities tools that can help bring more happiness into their lives.

Then I developed the coaching program MomLife Revive, because, throughout my journey of reconnecting with myself, I realized I was not alone. Many mothers experience the same sense of loss and disconnection. Motherhood is such a complex experience—it’s hard, beautiful, challenging, funny, scary, and fulfilling, sometimes all at once. It shapes and changes us profoundly, and we need to find that new space and identity where we are not just moms, wives, daughters, and professionals, but most importantly, women who deserve to prioritize our needs and take care of ourselves as well.

This program is something I wish I had when I began my journey to reconnect with myself; it would have saved me time, money, and energy!

A Grateful Heart

Now you know what fills my heart and I truly enjoy doing. I spend my days writing this blog, creating content for my programs, learning new things and most importantly, teaching! I am loving this new version of myself—I feel like a completely different person!

My love for teaching, learning, travel and service has led me to meet wonderful people and have life changing experiences. I am grateful for all of them, the good and the challenging, as they shape us and guide us along life’s path.

So once again, welcome! Here, I will share my experiences, the lessons I’ve learned, what I love, and anything that can help us live happier and more fulfilled lives!

Thanks for reading and keep growing!

With love,
